EDUCATION RESEARCH & ADVOCACY:

Campaign Goal: To promote increased public demand for greater accountability and transparency in the education sector.

Back Ground of Campaign:

The Literacy rate of the district Neelum is 43 % while literacy rate in among males are 69 % and females 31%. There are 212 Primary Schools, 33 Middle Schools and 28 High Schools. The student enrollment of 2011 is 22,299 which is a low ratio. Mostly people couldn’t educate their children due to poverty, illiteracy and lack of awareness. There are no active School Management Committees (SMCs) which has vital role in school funds and performance measurement of teachers. The existing schools have no sufficient facilities of Science, Computer Laboratory and furniture while many schools haven’t buildings. Due to lack in School development funds and corruption in available funds the schools of the district are still lacking basic facilities. Teaching staff is less than required / allocated numbers who are not well trained and they really don’t know the teaching methodologies. The public is un-aware of the education policies, budget and new development with the sector. They are also not aware with their rights and responsibilities.

Its need to research on the current education system and advocacy for the betterment of the system. People should be well awakened through SDO Research Reports & Publications to raise their voices for greater Accountability & transparency in Education Sector in District Neelum

Ø Research Reports are produced and articles, Books published in support of project cause.

Ø Communities are now raising voices for greater accountability and transparency.
